We believe by Good Charlotte (acoustic)

There’s a woman crying out tonight
Her world has changed
She asks God why
Her only son has died
And now her daughter cries
She can’t sleep at night

Downtown
Another day for all the suits and ties
Another war to fight
There’s no regard for life
How do they sleep at night?
How can we make things right?
Just wanna make this right

We believe
(We believe)
We believe
(We believe)
We believe
(We believe)
In this love

We are all the same
Human in all our ways and all of pain
(So let it be)
There’s a love that could fall down like rain
(Let us see)
Let forgiveness wash away the pain
(What we need)
And no one really knows what they are searching for
(We believe)
This world is crying for so much more

We believe
(We believe)
We believe
(We believe)
We believe
(We believe)
In this love

We believe
(We believe)
We believe
(We believe)
We believe
(We believe)
In this love

So this world
Is too much
For you to take
Just lay it down in front of me
I’ll be everything you need
In every way

We believe
(We believe)
We believe
(We believe)
We believe
(We believe)
In this love

In this love
We believe
(In this love)
We believe
(In this love)
We believe
(In this love)

Thank you to everyone who made this possible

Thanks to all the chairs that made this happen. Often, chairs are forgotten by delegates. But they work very very hard to make mun a reality. It is a thankless job. But it is one that they do gladly.

Thanks to all press members, for their hard work getting everything in mun covered.

Thanks to the SG and DSG for their leadership.

On behalf of the MUN Web team, it has been a pleasure to bring mun closer. We have been here, updating as often as we could, even with our tight schedules, and learnt a lot, for MUN Web is still in its infancy. Next year, it will be even better, now that we have the foundations in place. Rest assured of that.

I have probably forgotten a lot of people, but right now I’m too tired to think properly. So thank you everyone. Long live mun!

Open forum with Chairpersons

Note: If your question gets lost in the deluge of comments, please re post it.
Dear delegates,

By now, you must all be preparing yourselves to debate your resolutions for tomorrow. We, as Chairpersons, have thought that it would be a good idea to help you in the process.

Therefore, a team of Chairpersons will be available online, from 20:00 to 23:00 to answer your questions on debating, which you can post as comments. Please note that we will not respond to questions requiring us to evaluate the content of your speeches, or any other similar query. Kindly also note that this forum will be strictly moderated, and inappropriate comments will be deleted.

Wish you all the best in your preparation,

Chairpersons of the 13th Model United Nations Conference.

Day 0

THE FUN OF PRE-CONFERENCE DAY

The Model United Nations Conference usually starts on a Monday, and the Saturday immediately preceding that Monday is called Pre-Conference Day; what we just had yesterday. I thought it would be a good idea to share it with you all, especially because “Day 0” is so much fun in its own way.

When you arrive on Monday, you see many wonderful rows of blue tables, elegantly decorated with table flags, country name plates, bags, and placards. But on day zero, all you see is a pile of tables outside, a stage hidden under a myriad of boxes (which contain all sorts of things like cloth, detachable mini flag poles, balloons, etc…), a dump of chairs (the ones with 4 legs; not the ones who will be in commissions :) ) to the left of the GA. From these, you have to construct the wonderful place all of you will see on Monday.

So I arrived at around 10 00, and first job that I was assigned the striking a Mrs :) ! Relax, nobody was murdered, just some modifications Akshita (Chair; with two legs) and I had to bring to some leaflets. We gossiped A LOT, poked fun at some people’s clothes, and engaged in some MUN reminiscence. Then, I engaged in the most wonderful activity of the day: Table lifting.

The pile of three hundred tables that lies outside has to be carried inside the GA; so who other to help out than the boys running around for MUN. I joined them, and we made chains to deliver the tables as efficiently as possible. By the way, in full diplomatic style, we apologised to Chairs (the ones with 4 legs) if we hit them along the way. The thing is that after so many tables are carried, your hands end up being all red and sore; BUT HEY, THAT IS THE FUN OF MUN! And it is also some free weight-lifting! So that, along with some other boys blowing balloons (and then placing some strategic places along their anatomy), and some Michael Jackson music is how the first part of the day went by.

Typical of his caring nature, the fatherly Mr. Dabee then came to verify that his kids had been offered something to eat. So we got a piece of bread along with some water, which we gladly chugged down, while a group of boys also found time to write down the names of potential love stories on each other’s hands (X loves Y; X and Y were both males; I won’t say more). We continued with some weight (oops sorry) table lifting, and then, thanks to the ladies, A MIRACLE HAPPENED: We were able to get a glimpse of the stage’s floor. The boxes containing the napkins were brought down, and we started “blueing” the tables (which was desperately needed since the tops contained some rather vehement expressions of artistic talent). The ladies laid down napkins one by one, while the boys hauled the tables.

I decided to take a quick walk around to the Press, and it was the same hectic running around I expected it to be. Computers were being set, tables were being lifted, papers were being folded, and ladies were being admired. Then, I made a trip to the “Heart” of MUN, room 8, where Miss. Ameena and her friends were busy checking your names and ID badges. Having lost three bags in previous MUNs, I decided that the safest thing to do would be to leave mine there, and so I did!

Then, back to the GA, where the final batch of tables was being transported. The blueing was more intense now, and the stage was somewhat clearer that previously. A large Model United Nations manner was hoisted, and some potted plants added a natural setting to the hall.

Next, Satyam, Sean, the DSG, the SG, and I went upstairs to set up the Security Council room (We were joined by Adarsh, Jonathan and Kelvin later). It was no easy task, since the tables were quite heavy. But creative and energetic Satyam literally flew over the tables and pushed them one by one (with our help) into the nice shape you will see tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the two-legged Chairs permuted the four-legged chair and table arrangements to set up nice commission rooms for Day 2.

It was a whole team at work; ladies doing the aesthetic works, boys helping with the more physical ones, and coordinators doing a bit of both. So Andy, Satyam, and I placed your country name plates on your tables one by one, making sure nothing was missing. Another group of boys followed us with the placards, and other chairs (two legs) counted the number of tables in the GA. In the end, we cleaned up and let for some coffee in Room 8.

“Wow, it was a tiring but fun day!” we told ourselves as we left.

By the way, I hope Karvi did not scare anyone with his special facial cream glowing at night. Nishley was he a good boy?

P.S: I wrote this article in a hurry! Sorry if it is at times vague. See you all tomorrow.
